TREVOR NOAH

Welcome to one of America’s guilty pleasures, Late Night comedy/news/media critic. I first saw Mr. Noah on a comedy circuit stand up show. His brand of humor is refreshing, his point of view as most comics is personal which gives us something we may not be familiar with as much.
Trevor was born in Soweto Township, South Africa to a Jewish African (Xhosa) mother and a Swiss-German father. At the time of his birth it was illegal for Blacks and whites to have relationships. This was in 1984 not unlike America in the 1930’s-1950’s were people fled the south because of persecution with racism.
There is a recent influx of African businesses who want to be a part of the world economy round table, who have the capitol and resources and are tired of the propaganda that is shown about Africa. They have expressed there is more to the continent then “those children with the flies on their faces” as Mr. Noah puts it, “ no matter how poor you are, you can swipe the flies from off your face!”
Getting back to The Daily Show, Trevor Noah will be a breath of fresh air that has not been corrupted by America’s media and society, knows what it is to be pre judged solely on looks, and birth place, but that his talent has gotten him where he is at today. Brings to mind two gentlemen of maybe similar, in part, stories; Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Pres. Barack Obama.
Good Luck, I wish you well, stay focused!

PERSONAL CONDUCT

You should be held responsible for your conduct in public or in private IF you are in any way looked up to, by children or adults. Yes I get it, “My life, my business”, but when your life includes borderline activities of legal or moral subjection then it becomes everyone's business.
Using common moral sense is never too much to ask. The fact that you have more money at your disposal doesn’t say you can do whatever. Then there is the “stewpid” groupie that entertains your ego and don’t know how to say NO to some of the nefarious activities then one gets into trouble; with the law and the court of public opinion. Now We Have To Pray for You!
Okay, enough with my rant. I can forgive as well. There should be suspension, pay decreases and community services for the star athletes. The fact that some of these women sold there soul to Satan for the opportunity to get a front seat in this mayhem, should be held accountable as well. No it is never okay to hit another adult, where I come from you hit me, and you’re going to get hit back, even harder! KEEP YOUR HANDS TO YOURSELF.
I was not present at any of these altercations; therefore I have no business judging anyone. [PSA]
In hindsight, all of those people would have made different choices, both athlete and civilians.
Keep your head up. We will be watching [judging]

TODAY’S RAMBLE [03.19.15]

Lavern Cox Actress

In the news this morning there was a piece about an actress on the soap opera [THE BOLD AND BEAUTIFUL] who is playing a transgendered male –to-female. Let me apologize first if I am offending anyone, this is not my intentions.
What made the news is the fact that a character is a transgendered person. My question is, there are no Trans actors available to play that part? Yes the actress can play this part because she is an actor, but why not get a person that has lived this life first hand? Hollywood is so very hypocritical. Maybe one day there will no need to expose every ones private(s) and except them for who they are. If by chance they happened to be an actor or in my case, a doctor [I think] it will not matter. They will be judged by their professional abilities.
Side note: I was in the supermarket and a lady struck up a conversation with me at the fish counter. She was talking about the prices and I agreed they were a little higher than usual, and then I noticed she looked a bit strange. After walking away I realized for a 40-something year old her bust line was setting a wee bit too high! Breast in plants, this was my first close up of [I don’t know what to say] transgender person. I applaud her feeling good with herself; she may have needed more work. I tried not to stare; I want to take her aside and remind her boobs were way too high and could be bringing unwanted attention to you while work is in progress. I truly hope she continues to complete her journey and come into her full potential. For those who think this is a sin, what kind of a husband would this person make knowing this struggle within exists? Mr. Bruce Jenner comes to mind.
Everyone is on their own personal journey; maybe we can encourage one another as we travel through this labyrinth called life.

RETHINK POSSIBILITY

“Hi, my name is Debbie” is how my day started out. I had no service from my AT&T Uverse. The Television, home telephone and my INTERNET had stopped working the day before. I am trained to walk over to the box, hold 10 seconds, release then restart again and again. Nothing happens; I try again, then have a seat and call the 1-800-Runaround number. “Welcome, please say [blah blah] press one, I press one, then press two, then keep pressing 0 for an associate. This goes on for about 3 to 4 minutes, such a total waste of time because they never have the option needed. The fact that I am calling, I need to speak to someone, “You can go online…” if I could go online; I would not have to make this phone call [gesh]. I have wasted my valuable time still.
Finally an associate, I explain what they already know and ask for some type of credit for MY inconveniences, another set of questions, then I proceed to ask while I’m on the phone can I pay my bill. The ass[ociate] say they cannot locate my payment option that I used in the past. [#$@*^*%] I have used this account for the past 6 years, at this time before I hang the phone I promise to leave the company.
Today’s rant is brought to you by AT&T where they are sorry for your inconveniences and really don’t give a damn. As the prices keep going up, I keep looking for new services. There is the Time Warner Cable Company as an alternative. [nope]
Where is Google?

MR. PETE ROSE

Peter Edward "Pete" Rose, also known by his nickname "Charlie Hustle" A brilliant baseball player, so they say. I am not a baseball fan per say, but I am aware of talent. I am aware of history as it happens and Mr. Pete Rose was guilty of placing bets on a game during [blah-blah-blah]. My point it does not matter after all this time. The last time he played it was 1986 and a lot of folks where either not born or too young to remember anything of importance during that time. Back to my point, there have been gambling ion sports since the Greek Olympics. If you want to go to Las Vegas during ANY fight exhibition there will be gambling. Yeah I know the gambling was illegal but harmless just the same. I light of all of the steroid accusations and domestic partner abuse, the gambling ban should be lifted. For 29 years to live with the ban is punishing enough.

DOLCE AND CABBANA

It is one thing to have a personal opinion and another to be in the public eye selling goods and services. These popular designers have opened up a can of worms. To teach our children to be independent, unique, one of a kind individual then they see you conform to rules that are contrary to your life is the very definition of hypocrisy. Let the families be. If your family has a male and female, two females, two males or only one parent at the head leave them alone. I remember as a child there were campaigns for foster children or adoptions. The argument was at least the children have a home that is loving and nurturing. Today should hold the same standard for the children. If you’re in the public’s radar [stifle it Edith]

GRANDMA AND GRAND DADDY’S HOUSE

“Over the river and through the woods to grandmother’s house we go! “Is the beginning of a song as a child I learned in school to sing during the Thanksgiving holiday.
Recently I revisited my maternal grandparent’s home town and drove by the old property where I spent many summers. I remembered this is where I learned a lot of family values and a bit about my mother and her siblings. I was the child that asked hundreds of questions, all day long. My grandmother and little patience with me so she would send me to my grandfather for the questions that kept him laughing. I remembered one particular time I asked him about dating before they got married, he told me how  they would go on a picnic after church. After 2 or 3 picnics, they were married and stayed married until death. Here is where I learned about doing laundry with a wringer washing machine. I learned how to look at crop to pick the one that are ripe [that lesson hurt, ouch]. There was the first time I ate chicken that was running around in the yard that morning and was supper that evening. IK refused to eat it at first, but was hungry that next morning and ate it. This was the best I ever had, past or present and begged them every chance I got to make more. Then there was the time a “June-bug’ got on my shirt and I lost my mind running and screaming. My grandma picked it up and showed me how they used to a string on its legs, hold the string and watch it fly around like some moving toy.
I used to drive by when I came to town with one of my cousins Larry Squire, and see the frame of the house, or the chimney still standing and we would be reminded about those times. You see there were at least 18 first cousins that lived in and the surrounding towns that frequent grandma and granddad’s house, I was one of them who came during the summer school break from NYC.
Last August we buried Larry Squire and this gave me a profound look at my life and I am grateful daily. We went to the property this past Sunday and there is nothing I can identify with, it is all gone. Mother Nature has reclaimed the property. The brick chimney is gone; there is no ghost of the house left, nothing.
I was blessed to have spent so much time with them and have these memories still. What survived are me and the other grandchildren, the grandchildren’s children who still hold the teachings and traditions that were passed down through the generations.
Society Hill, Bishopville, Cheraw, Dovesville South Carolina the towns of some of my mother’s roots

MEDITATION...

I've tired this meditation exercise with the first day, I think was a success. I had a few errands to run, the sun was shinning bright, with a full day and I did not forget anything. I'm thinking I will incorporate this into my daily routine. Feeling quite accomplished I give it a try the next day.
Day 2, not so much. I did the 20  minutes shutting down, clearing my mind and try to eliminate the "head chatter". Then I dragged all day accomplishing nothing. I stayed sleepy all day and did not get dressed. Maybe it was the fact that it was dreary outside and the sun struggled to come out, but I did not enjoy this day.
Maybe I'm doing something wrong, but I will try again.
Sometime next week

CREATIVITY

Where are these students nowadays? We used to be creative in annoying the substitute teachers with "spit balls" and answers to random test like this because the teacher was unprepared. Harmless antics was a part of school along with ditching, cutting class to hang out in the park.
Nowadays the videos that have gone viral would make any sailor blush.

SPOCK

The close to a class act. Goodbye Mr. Nimoy. "live long and prosper" was a tag line that was attached to Lenard Nimoy through the years. It was a treat to see him from time to time in cameo appearance in the StarTrek franchise.
