Is it enough teachers are underpaid, underfunded,
overworked? The fear of some mentally ill student coming into a school and open
fire is enough to make any person thing twice about a career in education. Most
teachers have to find resources to provide for classroom school supplies out of
their own pockets. There is a list in the beginning of the school year that
parents have to supply incase other students are lacking. The teacher is a true
unsung hero.
We send our “precious angle” or the 4th or 5th
child to school 5 of seven days of a week for total strangers to take care that
our babies are educated and protected. “Charity begins at home” is what I was
taught and what I teach in my family. We were taught in the home not to embarrass
my parents in public let alone in school. If my mom got wind of any bad
behavior by the teacher or any other adult for that matter I would rather die
than come home to the “wrath of mom”.
Today’s rant is about the preliminary judgement of the
video that is circling around social media. The resource officer’s behavior is
put on judgement. If the teacher has a disrupted student in the classroom, what
is the teacher to do? Maybe ask the student to leave; the threat of the
principal office should be enough; nowadays things have hanged in school. There
was a cop in my high school and that was the easiest post for law enforcement.
We used to run past him “cutting” class, when we got into the classroom the
shenanigans stopped.
I have to wait for all evidence to surface. Should the
officer “man-handled” this young lady? Should the student have complied when
asked to leave the classroom? Should there be better training on both parts? I believe
this could all have been avoided to start with.
Where are her embarrassed parents?...[****crickets***]
I can still hear my Mother now.. (O_o)
